Our Work

Everyone deserves access to breast healthcare. We're helping move toward a more equitable healthcare system specifically in breast care. Barriers exists and always will; we're here to help identify them and help overcome them in the breast health arena.

Our Core Values

  1. To promote holistic breast health education, wellness, early detection and breast cancer prevention.

  2. To empower individuals to be comfortable in their bodies.

  3. Use humor to help enlighten some very dark topics, because laughter is good medicine.

  4. To respect everyone's unique healthcare choices and encourage self-advocacy in healthcare.

Current Initiatives

We aim to be completely transparent about where our funds go. We have basic costs - to keep up the website, pay for insurance, to host as well as promote events to raise greater funds, and pay for postage to get items where they need to go, etc.

100% of our involvement is unpaid. You are not funding our salaries - we have day jobs and often are funding our own fundraisers. We rely heavily on donated products and time. We do appreciate your patience with us considering we all work 40+ hours a week and still have to be present in our personal lives. This is our passion project, we hope it inspires you too!

Our first year of fundraising provided a cash donation to offset the purchase of new Hologic 3D Mammography Units at the Hewitt Center for Breast Wellness at Griffin Hospital, Derby, Connecticut.

Going forward we have dedicated initiatives that we will continue to fund for as long as possible with your continued support. If you have an idea for how we can help please share it with us!

Tablets for Translation

Imagine that you are going in for your breast imaging exam after finding a lump in your left breast. Upon arrival you realize that no one is speaking your language and you can't even communicate to the people who are there to help you where and what your problem is.

We want to make sure that all patients can communicate to their healthcare providers effectively. It's one of our most important initiatives and if your facility needs help with translation services please contact us and we will do our best to provide you with the tools you need so all your patients can be heard. Likewise, if any information needs to be conveyed back to them, providers can explain exams, results and recommendations so that a dialog can take place.

We're all about talking about breasts here - no matter what language.

There are so many post operative care kits for breast cancer patients and that is wonderful! There aren't very many for other individuals who have had similar surgeries like gender affirming top surgery.

BOSOMii wants to be able to provide healing care packages for individuals who have taken that massive step in their transgender journey. Currently this program is being built and will be piloted at Griffin Hospital. Depending on it's success we would love to expand the same offering to other Connecticut Hospitals.

We have these recovery kits for sale in the shop for anyone having breast surgery, for each purchased another will be donated to a transgender individual.

The first step in reducing LGBTQ+ healthcare bias in hospitals is to celebrate patients of this demographic, we want to play a role in their recognition and help inspire others to admire the challenges they have had to overcome to get to a point where they are coming out of the OR.

The CT Valley area has been incredibly receptive and generous to this cause. We are looking forward to working with local vendors and establishing more relationships within our community.
